Partner Doula Care
Two doulas. Two hearts. Two sets of listening ears. Two keen pairs of eyes.
Two birth experts to accompany you on your unique journey.
We were never meant to do this work alone. Birthwork has always been community centered. Partner Doula Care is how we remember to walk alongside people the way birth deserves~ with your doula being fully present, devoted, and sustained.
Beyond having a rested and ready doula on your birth day, you have team collaborating on your care. I partner with a doula I deeply trust. This mujer whose values, instincts and care I’d want at my own birth. Below, meet the doula I currently partner with.

k’mae martinez
k’mae martinez is a biracial, full-spectrum doula, bodyworker, herbalist and educator raised between the hills and ocean of unceeded Kumeyaay territory in what’s now known as San Diego, CA. k'mae's journey into birthwork came as a soul's calling, with a heartfelt awareness of the love and compassion it takes to truly walk alongside others on the childbearing journey.
With a deep reverence for the innate intelligence of the Womb and human body, k'mae's birthwork journey began in 2019 first studying with Sarah Naia Soleil of Doula Thrive and later with Maestra Tema Mercado of La Matriz Birth.
In 2021, through the guidance of her ancestors, k'mae was brought to Central Texas, the land where her paternal lineage has lived for five known generations. Here, k'mae has continued her work and relationship with the Womb. She's studied with Maestra Irasema Reza-Bailey of Las Manos Magicas, Qiddist Ashe of The Holy/Well, Ginger Webb of Sacred Journey School of Herbalism, Reanne Madison of Postpartum Healing Lodge, Paula Leeper of Ancient Healing Arts, Birthing Advocacy, Birthing From Within, Spinning Babies, and DONA.
k'mae offers compassionate care to those she accompanies through all experiences of the womb. She offer's full-spectrum doula care, postpartum belly binding, pre & postnatal traditional bodywork, closing ceremonies, educational classes, and nourishing bone broth.
She is deeply honored to support the full continuum of the Womb and to be invited into such sacred and tender moments in people’s lives. With heartfelt humility and gratitude, she walks this path with the prayer that your journey expands your capacity to love, to feel deeply, and to stand fully in your divine power.

FAQ’s

YES! Both of your doulas attend all three in-home prenatal visits. This is where we dive into the many layers of preparing for labor, birth, and postpartum together. If you have a partner(s), we strongly prefer they join these visits as well.
-
Our model splits on-call time between the two of us, covering different halves of the day. Whoever is "on" when you go into labor is the one who will join you. If your labor carries into the other doula's on-call window, she'll step in to join before the first doula leaves.
There's usually a small window where both of your doulas will be present together. This gives us time to collaborate together, take a temperature of the room, sense what's working and what's needed, and match the energy you've built. It also gives you, in labor's slowed-down sense of time, space to familiarize yourself with the new presence beside you before the first doula leaves.
-
We'll share a group chat for all communications, so both of us stay in the know with your updates as things progress.
When it's time to call your doula to join you, you'll follow the protocol shared with you during our care together ~ one of us covers the AM hours, the other covers the PM hours, so you'll always know who to reach.

No, two can be a crowd in postpartum. We split these visits, each attending one, meeting you one-on-one, in the quiet, tender space of postpartum. This isn't a gathering time the way prenatal visits are; it's a time to simply be with you with body care, rebozo therapy, emotional support, troubleshooting, sharing what we know and referring you onward when needed.
Then, once you've settled into a new rhythm and feel ready, we will both join you for your Cerrada, closing ceremony. This can happen as soon as 6 weeks postpartum and is available to you for up to 3 months postpartum. Here both of us hold space with you to honor all this journey has entailed.

Partner Doula Care is priced slightly above what you'd typically find for a solo doula in Austin ~ reflecting the added support, presence, and expertise of two doulas walking with you. We offer a sliding scale, along with payment plans, so you can find what fits your circumstances while still honoring the value of the care you're receiving. Reach out and we're happy to talk through what that looks like for you.
