Closing Ceremony

A Closing Ceremony is an ancient postpartum healing ritual rooted in prayer that honors a mother's physical, emotional, and spiritual transition after childbirth. It allows for that quietness needed to sit with yourself, be tended to and cared for, as your body is massaged, rocked, compressed and wrapped from head to toe utilizing hand woven reobozos. It creates a container that allows for integration after such a profound and sacred rite of passage.

Q &A

How many prenatal meetings do you provide and what do they look like? I like to meet with my clients at least 3 times prenatally. This allows us to connect, for me to understand your birthing preferences, discuss advocacy during birth, work thru any aches and pains you may be experiencing (bodywork), practice body alignment techniques. My visits are generally 90 minutes long, half discussion, half bodywork/ alignment.

What does postpartum care look like? There is so much that your body goes thru to grow a child. I will ask to meet with you several days after giving birth. This will allow me to tend to your body and bind your belly. I use a very gentle venda that supports your core as your organs are shifting back into place and your uterus is continuing the involution process. I will also be supporting your feeding goals. The second visit includes a closing ceremony as well as processing your birthing story.

How many births do you support a month? This work is very sacred and requires a lot from me. This is why I only support 1 birth a month.

Can I meet your backup doula? Absolutely! I am happy to set up a zoom or in-person meeting; whatever feels the most comfortable to the family.

Once labor begins, when will doula birth support begin? When you need it to. This varies depending on what your family needs. Many families like to spend the intimate time of early labor together and call me when they need additional support. Maybe you call me when you feel anxious or you need me to come work on your body and tuck you in as labor is beginning. It’s up to you.

Do you accept payment programs? Yes! Once we decide that we are a beautiful fit, you can either pay the deposit, which is 50% of my fee. This holds your due date and begins our work. We can also agree on a payment plan, one that completes payment by your 37th week of pregnancy.
